Chalkboard Wood Slice Signs...Thrifted

I've seen some fun uses for plain wood slices that you can buy at Hobby Lobby (couldn't find them online) - they're roughly $5.

I picked one up a few weeks ago, intending to make it a chalkboard wood slice.

Which I did.

This is not an original idea, and you can definitely find a lot of fun uses for these little wood slices. I just happen to like it with a couple coats of chalkboard paint on it.

BUT, inspiration really struck when I was at $1 Mondays at our local Goodwill, and spotted this treasure with that brilliant $1 red sticker on it.

Although this was a beautiful (cough, cough) painting, I knew instantly that a couple coats of chalkboard paint and I'd have my own thrifted version of the popular wood slice art.

Voila!

I love repurposing thrift store finds!

About Me

My photo
I married my best friend in 2006, and we started a family in 2010. Our house is still a work in progress in becoming a home - who knew there would be so many projects with new construction?! I love flavored coffee creamers, reality TV and anything Husky sports-related. My confession is that I only make boxed cookies, don't do grocery delivery (they don't have samples!), and am slightly obsessed with being a mom to boys.
