Milk Paint Desk - Thrifted Upcycle

I found some great treasures at the local thrift store on Veteran's Day (showed some other treasures on my IG - follow @ashleydsp).

I love supporting our local St. Vincent dePaul, and I also love a 50% off sale.

I scored this cute little wood desk right when the doors opened.

In perfectly good shape - just needed some elbow grease a new paint job.

I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use the Miss Mustard Seed Milkpaint in Typewriter that I picked up a couple months ago, and thought this desk screamed typewriter. (Yeah, my furniture talks...they're really advanced).

I've been on a black kick as it is, which I'll show you more of later, but love the way this desk turned out.

Original hardware.

The milk paint totally did it's thing and I LOVE the way that the wood grain shows through.

Wax hadn't been buffed yet in this picture (I'm impatient), but you can see a good view of the color.

Cute right?!

I love using MMS Milk Paint, and have read her super helpful tutorials, and general tips over and over because they're always evolving, and so helpful.

And the paint gives me a totally different product every time (used here and here)- which could drive a Type A painter nutso.

People often ask where you can buy MMS Milk Paint locally, and the inside scoop I heard, was that Faded Elegance in Snohomish will soon be the next vendor!  Don't hold me to that answer though - that's just word on the street.

Have you tried milk paint? Thoughts? Questions?

Happy Thursday!

About Me

My photo
I married my best friend in 2006, and we started a family in 2010. Our house is still a work in progress in becoming a home - who knew there would be so many projects with new construction?! I love flavored coffee creamers, reality TV and anything Husky sports-related. My confession is that I only make boxed cookies, don't do grocery delivery (they don't have samples!), and am slightly obsessed with being a mom to boys.
