Think Pink…Thrift Store Baby Doll Bassinet Makeover

I don't have many opportunities to use pink in this house.

But despite the mounds of blue that exist in my house, I really do love a good pink.

This is a new revelation for me too.

So when I spotted this darling vintage baby doll bassinet while thrifting last weekend (for $2 mind you), I knew it'd look so sweet with a few coats of Country Chic Paint's Vintage Cupcake.

It had clearly been well-loved by some sweet little girl before (I love imagining the story of these pieces when I get them…as if they have feelings).

I cleaned up the bassinet with a wet cloth, sanded gently on the flat surfaces with a 220 grit sanding block, and then slapped on two coats of paint in Vintage Cupcake.

Always wanting to "rough it up" a little, I finished it off with a coat of Antique Wax, let that dry and buffed it out with a soft cloth.

I love how the Antique Wax adds so much more dimension to the color.

I'm minorly in love with these hand-sewn dollies that look like they belong perfectly in this sweet bassinet.

They were loaned to us just for the day, but were originally made by her.

I love my boys, but it was fun to pretend with this really girly pink, and these really girly dolls.

Even if just for the day.

  1. My wife loves that vintage pink color. She loves DIY projects and she's been following your blog for a while. Her latest project she wants to start is painting the exterior of the house. I'm pretty sure she want's to do it this pink color as well. I'm trying to convince her to let the professionals do it and that it's a huge project to take on, but she doesn't listen to me. http://www.ajbluntpaint.com.au

I married my best friend in 2006, and we started a family in 2010. Our house is still a work in progress in becoming a home - who knew there would be so many projects with new construction?! I love flavored coffee creamers, reality TV and anything Husky sports-related. My confession is that I only make boxed cookies, don't do grocery delivery (they don't have samples!), and am slightly obsessed with being a mom to boys.
